forums.mactalk.com.au — Apple Australia have today announced internally the details of the Australian iPhone release. The phone will be released in the last week of June to coincide with the opening of the Sydney Apple Store. The phone will also be unlocked for use with more than 1 carrier, providing evidence it may be a 3G iPhone we first see here.

This is more than I'd dare hope for with the release of this thing (finally). To those in other countries who are jealous of the 'unlocked' aspect, don't be - rest assured the idiot telcos in this country will maintain their absolutely insane data prices, thereby rendering it virtually useless anyway. As with most things too good to be true, this probably is, anyway.

That merger shouldn't be allowed then. There NEEDS to be competition to promote progress.

I promise you, no one cares about how many degrees you have, where you went to school, who you've worked for, or what other penis-length story you have to offer.

This will suck in a major way - you know what Telstra and the other money-hungry Telcos charge for data. Do you really think any Australian telco is going to sell an UNLIMITED data plan at anywhere near a reasonable price ? Seems that would be a requirement for using the iPhone on the 'net.
