We had Wiccans, Jews and such, atheists, you name it. There was never a pattern of discrimination against anyone concerning their religion. If they carried their weight and didn't rock the boat everything was all smiles. f**k up and make noise and you're going behind the Chow hall to politely discuss your grievances with your Sqd Ldr/ Plt Sgt. Enlightenment is a big part of military tradition. I've been enlightened a few time, and shared a little of my knowledge too, it's a give give relationship and you accept it. This whole crybaby bulls**t about a pup claiming it's a service policy to discriminate is horses**t. You don't have to attend services, you don't have to talk to the chaplin, the bible is free, you can throw it away if you want... as long as you believe in holding your s**t together long enough to get s**t done, you can follow whatever God you want.Suing the Army... what kind of bulls**t is this.
@bohicaThat's the problem. The EO rep is attached to the unit. Typically, the people doing the job are also members of the unit doing their "main" job with EO being a "special" side duty. Just because someone is trained in EO doesn't mean they are non-biased or won't go blabbing to the commander or their friends in the unit.
Submit and article of Christians being murdered or Christianity being outlawed and it gets buried. Sure ticket to the front page and thousands of diggs just use the word Atheist in the title. Don't hurt an atheists feelings. Oh no!
So Jethris and IzzieCat thinks that is ok to be obligated to do something, even being atheist, as long as it's for god?I don't do things that I don't want to do, even less if requires me to participate in flesh. What's next? You have to go to the christian parade, don't moan about it, they're in bigger number than thou!Telling an atheist to participate (passively, but yet participating) into a prayer is pretty much like all other things related to christian culture... dumb and f**ked up.
morale. yes, but sacrificing a personal understanding and asked to take part in the irrational act of prayer, does that not bring the morale of the atheist down?Ultimately it is reality that decides, not personal beliefs. Perhaps if more army people were atheist, they would not join the army in the first place, knowing this is the only life we have to live?
What's with "he decided to become an atheist"? First he couldn't believe it anymore, then he decided to call himself an atheist. I don't see it as something you decide to become, more something you realize you are.

And yet, Christians are always quoting from Leviticus when it is convenient.

Coming from someone who can't even handle a simple contraction. I'm not sure if I should be offended or just point and laugh.
