Holy crap I've read through everything, and damn you guys are slow.Atheism is technically NOT a religion.re·li·gion Audio pronunciation of "Religion" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (r-ljn)n. 1. Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe. 2. A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship. 2. The life or condition of a person in a religious order. 3. A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader. 4. A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.Ummmm...yea...If you are Athiest, you don't believe in a god. That's it. Belief in no god. What more is there? There is no organization that does such things. You are just a person who believes in no god. You are technically not part of a religion, you are seperate.I am Athiest. I do not believe in a god? Is there anything else to say? Sheesh. This video was just pointing out how interpretation of the Bible, as many do literaly in the cause and fight of religion, becomes a standard problem. And GreenOne, I love you. Because of your comment. You are 100% correct. My friend once asked me, "Why do you not believe in god?" I told him, "I already know the explanations I need towards most of life, why do I need a god to guide me when I am doing fine myself?" He said, "Well, I'll prove to you there is a god!" And he still hasn't.
corevette said: "If everyone was atheist...wouldn't have had half the wars that we've had. I personally think Atheism is the way to go."That's the SAME logic many religious folks use. If only everyone was Christian the world would be perfect... because Christianity is a way to go... because I say so... Notice the similarities, corvette?
Wow! I've always felt like I was "Odd man out" for being an atheist. Its nice to see that we are making a paradigm shift away from blind faith in mythical figures and toward objective reasoning.
problem:1. God doesnt hear the prayers of people that are not born again Christians (unless they are praying to receive Him).2. when you pray, you are praying in Jesus' name. by this i mean you are to pray as is Jesus Himself is asking God for something to happen. are you praying for a purpose or are you praying for your own wants?
If you are correct in your beliefs, why do people insist on tellin me I will go to hell if I don't believe? Obviously I logically can't if there is no God if I don't believe in him.
@Alphabet"Saying atheism is a religion is like saying "not collecting stamps" is a hobby."Except that if you make not collecting stamps your life hobby, encourage everyone else to do the same, and criticize those who do, some line has been crossed from simply the absence of an action into the resistance of an action; and behind it the same zeal that accompanies some people of faith. It becomes a belief system and something to live your life by.My take is that religion has always been used as a garb to clothe an action w/ negative motivation w/ something that seems more palatable. Let's not kid ourselves, lots of evil doers (Hitler, et al) have claimed to be doing the Lord's work. Human greed, selfishness, and the instinct to survive all exist outside of religion and would be adequate enough to start whatever kinds of wars men wanted. Consider it only took stupidity to get Bush into a war.
Leviticus 20:13 Two men sleeping together should dieLuke 19:27 But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them—bring them here and kill them in front of me.Jesus sure was peace loving. If you believe there's any truth in the Bible you better believe it's all true. You can't just pick and choose, that would be recognizing that you have your own personal moral compass, and that's impossible for atheists, right? Honestly, there is nothing peace-loving about these backwards barbaric myths. It's so sad that people are so stupid and delusional they believe this stuff.
Interesting. You doubt your holy book, yet you say it is inspired by God. Could there be a seed of doubt in your mind? You should be careful and stop thinking for yourself or you might end up in hell.
"We really don't have proof in either direction."You need a proof to prove something doesn't exist? If there is no way to prove something don't exist, ain't it simpler to say it doesn't exist. The simplest solution are always the best one.I have a problem with agnostics because they don't seems to have really though about it, they just claim they don't know, they don't want to know and they don't care what other believes, then just stay out of the debate until you make your mind.
