I wouldn't make any such argument for the children. Kids can hurt or kill themselves with any gun, nevermind assault weapons. If a kid gets into their parents guns and gets hurt, its the parent's fault for not keeping their guns safe and secure.

In fact, I was reading about that recently.Apparently there's a number of studies that show that people from the Southern US are significantly more likely to respond to insult or wrongdoing in kind as are those in the north and Canada. I would provide details, but I'm at work and don't really have the time for it.
