"Being a geek has nothing to do with life lessons, just depth and breadth in their intellectual zone."In other words, they're highly trained ... but poorly educated.

Right off the bat I can tell who here is going to get a promotion and who is going to be stuck in the same cubicle for the rest of their career. The people who get promoted are those who show they can work with other people without causing disruption. You are not an island. You are a member of an organization and if you don't have at least a little courtesy for other people, nobody is going to want to work with you.It is entirely possible to correct someone without insulting them. I don't see why you wouldn't. It lets you show your intelligence without putting down someone elses.

If you want to tell people the 5truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you. --Oscar WildeBTW, I am autistic.

Anyone else happy to see this elitist turning away qualified people so he can hire his less-qualified friends?

You just described where I work. No matter what we do people are always in the way of getting the damn job done.

I got promoted recently to replace a transfered boss, and I finally understand why he was always so god damn grumpy. Now I want to murder all the people he used to talk about murdering too. . .

I can vouch for that. AS since 7th grade and socially I've always been much better because of the lack of using the speech part of the brain. My personality has been waaaay different, and I've basically been like the average socially-ept person.Offline, I can barely talk. I have to focus a lot on making speech, can never make eye contact easily, and I always get in a nervous panic while talking and end up flapping my hands real fast. There's all sorts of pauses and odd words that I say, it's hard for someone to understand what I mean.

As the father of a child with AS, I would actually agree with yertthediggers' statement. Having AS is just having a different way of thinking. However, that way of thinking makes it really really difficult to handle the world we live in.
