IAC, Google, and Yahoo are all trying to get this "maps based searching" done right. I'm kind of disappointed with this offering. Looks to me like their target is yahoo/google/msn maps - B-Diddy figures he has better local content than the competition (Citysearch, ticketmaster, expedia), so he can build it better. He should be able to, but this isn't it. It looks like they just tried to be better AJAX-ninjas. Ooh, look, I can draw a random polygon on a map in one of 10 different colors. Big whoop - I can't draw square on the map and then have it tell me a good place to get dinner is inside of that region, and it doens't show me reviews and comments from citysearch. The integration between the content properties and the application is disappointing. Yahoo maps doesn't let me draw a random polygon on the map and save it for later, but it will show me Mexican restaurants on my current map.
Next AdBlock reference gets user ignore for life. I am tired about this, I do not use AdBlock, and i do not wish to use AdBlock. If you use AdBlock SHUT THE f**k UP.
I really like where Ask.com is going, I think they're trying really hard to shake the AskJeeves feel and seem to be doing a good job of it. I would have really liked the city search, but unfortunately my city is very poorly covered. The movie search failed to locate the biggest theater in town and instead located one 20 minutes outside of the city. But can't blame them for that, it's a new product.
I like AskCity better: search for burgers in ny on both sites. On Google all you get on the first page are Burger Kings (do I really need to search web to find closest BK and do I really need reviews for BK, it has dollar menu - enough said ) AskCity gives you real local burger joints with useful info for each listing, menus, walking directions, search by neighborhood, what's next: can I order online and have it delivered to my apt. What can I say, I am lazy.

someone should make a firefox plugin that filters out any stories or comments that include the words ps3 or wii. the debate is getting really old.
