nbc10.com — An award-winning Texas art teacher has lost her job after one of her fifth-grade students saw a nude sculpture during a trip to a museum. The school board voted not to renew Sydney McGee's contract after 28 years.

I feel the need to build some sort of sculpture that resembles a gigantic breast or pair of them, but it's actually something totally unrelated and set it near a high area of traffic in Frisco. Anyone have any ideas?

Seriously... As if the teacher has control over what a PUBLIC museum has on display, aside from that, it's a piece of art!! Man, I can't stand people so ignorant and so conservative. This teacher should sue the pants off the school and slap the parents in the face with those permission slips they signed =p

Go up the posts and read some of the stories from the local papers. This lady has been fired from other districts and they have had other problems with her so this isn't the reason she is being fired, but she claims it is.I live in Allen, Tx, a town close to this school district. I know a teacher would not be fired for this--get real. This is how CYA it is getting in schools now. My daughters choir teacher said that the kids would be doing a "Holiday" program and some of the songs might have "Jesus" in them. If anyone has a problem with their child singing a song with God or Jesus in them, let her know and they can sit out for that song. I had to sign an okay slip to allow my kid to watch a PG movie. It has gotten so unbelievably PC it makes my head hurt. The Texas bashing was hilarious--it was a welcome break from the Bush bashing.

I'm 57 years old, born in Texas and lived my life here. I went on museum field trips as a child and saw nude paintings and statues. What a bunch of bigots on here, to believe that Texas is some weird place where children are not allowed to view fine art. As you say, I'll bet Frisco populated by 99% non-Texans, mostly from the north and the East coast. Even 30 years ago, I rarely worked with someone who was actually from Texas, since I worked in Houston. What's peculiar, though, is these same people come here and a year later are insulted if they are not considered Texans. They happily give up their attachments to their northern and east coast homes.I am also sick of being called racists down here. My son, who is an insurance adjuster who travels to catastrophes, was working in Minnesota. He, like all of us, make our remarks about being overrun by Mexican illegals here in Texas. However, he was appalled by the attitudes of northerners toward someone who was not white as the driven snow. One homeowner said, "The roofing company better have white workers, are they aren't coming in my yard, let alone getting on my roof." This is the attitude when someone from up north who is never even in the presence of someone of color might encounter color. However, that same person thinks we should just happily get taken over by Mexico, lose our jobs because we don't speak Mexican or Guatemalan Spanish, and call us racists if we protest our states going bankrupt caring for these people cradle to grave. They, though, don't want to step on a blade of grass after a non-white has stepped on it!!!!!!

People like what??? People from the south???? How about checking your bigotry at the door. You have no idea what you are talking about. Go to Dallas - Frisco area and talk to real people who live here. You are stupid and backward and untraveled.
