commandline.org.uk — Not a lot of people know this, but a lot of the extensions available through Firefox are not free/open source software at all. One example is the StumbleUpon Extension. If you want the most free software computer possible, look up the licences of your extensions.

The Mozilla guys should make it easy to distinguish between proprietary and open source add ons. I didn't know about this.

Why not just check out the homepage of the addons your getting before using them? Or even maybe just a Google search if your that concerned about it? I don't think this is something the Mozilla guys should have to worry about as the point of extensions and addons is to have third-party development.
