searchengineland.com — Are our brains being rewired by using the Internet? The evidence tends to be pointing that way. With internet usage, a significantly bigger piece of neural real estate lit up on the fMRI indicating that more parts of the brain were engaged.

Having spent a lot of time arguing on the internet, I've long felt the internet as a whole is a cybernetic brain plug-in, especially Google and Wikipedia. It is quite amazing how you can go from a vague memory of something you once read, or even a baseline of almost zero knowledge, to beating someone in an argument after about 15 minutes research. Quick internet research becomes a vital part of how well you argue your case, which is very different to arguing IRL.Intelligence is closely linked to the tools you have to hand. Humans are inherently cybernetic -- as that opening sequence from 2001 alludes to. But the internet is the closest we have gotten yet to the "microsoft" plug-in knowledge chips of William Gibson -- coincidental name btw!

I average over a page per minute for normal sized paper backed novels. and most pop-fiction novels (like Star Wars etc.) I can do 4-8 hours. If it's a particularly heady piece of literature, especially non-fiction, it takes considerably longer to get my head around foreign concepts. I don't skim either, I just process words differently. I don't take the time to pronounce each word in my mind, if I come across a long word I just envision the letters of the word, make a best guess of the pronunciation, and move on. saves time that way.

Thanks to the internet when I want to remember something my first dozen are perverted thoughts -- bad things happen in conversation when I'm "feeling lucky".

Before you know it, there will be Google Schools...Honestly though, since you can get a ton of information on virtually any topic you could imagine on the Internet, the only obstacle would be to harness a tool that will connect your issues/questions/problems with a legitimate answer/solution. And since Google seems to provide the best link to this issue, all our brains become googlized. Crazy stuff...Thanks for sharing.http://www.realeflix.com
