It does not follow that if you replace one instrument with another instrument that the prior one was inaccurate.
You should probably contact the site's authors and ask them why they are all over the map. However I believe it was ~800 AD - 1300 AD and was mostly a local event.Thanks for that video you posted earlier. it was very interesting.

I am hoping that one day your education with cover the difference between area and volume. The study looked at extent (area) not volume.

I could also point out that according to ice records CO2 does not cause temperatures to rise or fall.
