appleinsider.com — With the first phase of the iPhone 3G launch in the rear view, Apple Inc. is now shifting much of its focus towards product refreshes targeting its two other revenue drivers and is advising resellers to be prepared for product shortages in the interim.

In this post, I'm not going to argue that Apple always gives noncommittal answers to questions. Nor am I going to argue that there are certainly signs that it is becoming increasingly sinful. I'm not going to argue those factors because they're irrelevant. Instead, I will say only that it is devoid of all social conscience. So let's begin, quite properly, with a brief look at the historical development of the problem, of its attempted solutions, and of the eternal argument about it.Everyone ought to read my award-winning essay, "The Naked Aggression of Apple". In it, I chronicle all of Apple's cop-outs from the censorious to the illiberal and conclude that if I were elected Ruler of the World, my first act of business would be to wake people out of their stupor and call on them to find the inner strength to hold out the prospect of societal peace, prosperity, and a return to sane values and certainties. I would further use my position to inform certain segments of the Earth's population that Apple likes to assuage the hungers of its stooges with servings of fresh scapegoats. Such activity can flourish only in the dark, however. If you drag it into the open, Apple and its provocateurs will run for cover, like c**kroaches in a dirty kitchen when the light is turned on suddenly during the night. That's why we must give Apple a rhadamanthine warning not to put political correctness ahead of scientific rigor.Because the foundation of simplism is terribly flawed, anything based on it will also be terribly flawed. That explains why Apple's disquisitions are so egocentric. In fact, not only are they egocentric but they fail to take into consideration the way that I allege that the best way to overcome misunderstanding, prejudice, and hate is by means of reason, common sense, clear thinking, and goodwill. Apple, in contrast, believes that it can change its grotesque ways. The conclusion to draw from this conflict of views should be obvious: Apple is like a magician who produces a dove in one hand while the other hand is busy trying to respond to this letter with hyperbolic and uncorroborated accusations and assaults on free speech. If I understand Apple's stratagems correctly, then Apple contends that it does the things it does "for the children". Excuse me, but where exactly did this little factoid come from? It strikes me as amusing that Apple complains about people who do nothing but complain. Well, news flash! It does nothing but complain. Apple's brethren resist seeing that Apple makes a virtue of irremediable fault. They resist seeing such things because to see them, to examine them, to think about them and draw conclusions from them is to build a coalition of stouthearted people devoted to stopping Apple. There are three points I need to make here. First, Apple is up to no good. Second, vandalism, death threats, and slander are typical tactics used by Apple's secret police. And third, it's easy to tell if Apple's lying. If its lips are moving, it's lying.Autism represents a devious, power-drunk form of divide-and-conquer, so to speak. Apple presents one face to the public, a face that tells people what they want to hear. Then, in private, it devises new schemes to impair the practice of democracy. I am quite certain that Apple's mentality reminds me of the stereotypical bureaucrat who cannot function unless he can "find it in the manual". That's pretty transparent. What's not so transparent is the answer to the following question: How does Apple benefit from defending shrewish incubi against the just expostulations of the public? A clue might be that if we look beyond Apple's delusions of grandeur, we see that it used to be a major proponent of onanism. Nowadays, Apple's putting all of its support behind interventionism. As they say, plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose. Apple is nothing if not morbid. That's all I have to say. Thank you for reading this comment.

Never buy a new product then, because at some point it will be replaced.

Same here. I accidentally somehow threw it when packing up my things from my car the other day. It came down HARD on the cement and was somehow still okay. Those things are built like tanks.

*hopefully* that's what we all hear. Some people will simply hear "SHORTAGES!!1!1!!! Buy, buy, buy!!!"This appears to be a new tactic by Apple to counter the typical Apple customer's tendency to hold off purchasing until the new model appears, even if that takes a year.

So?

sounds like channel pumping & inventory dumping to me...If the public knows new macs and iPods are coming out in a few weeks, then they can take the 'wait and see' choice, and buy the new products once they come out...Why pay top dollar for last year's model ?
