apple.com — Apple has updated its home page to commemorate the life of Rosa Parks. It now features the infamous picture of her on the montgomery bus as the boycott ended. It also features a page about Rosa Parks in Apple's hot news section when you click on the picture.

Yup, there's nothing like a large corporation exploiting someone for their own monetary gain. This is all advertising+psychology 101 -- you relate or have empathy for the person in the ad, and you assume the company associated with the ad is good. I love Apple products, but their "Think Different" campaign is 100% greedy exploitation -- and brilliant if you're a marketing director.

eh I think it's a cheap shot from Apple trying to capitalize on racism.

Rosa Parks for the Think Different Campaign, the United Colors of Benetton Toscani advertising, etc...this is what marketers want, for ppl to pay attention to their brand. On the other hand, Apple has that Nano lawsuit hitting the fan, maybe they're just trying to elicit some fuzzy feelings before ppl. remember their scratched ipod screen.

I am a fan of Apple's products, but those "Think Different" ads don't really mean much of anything. I am quick sure that Rosa Parks wasn't a mac user, nor was Hitchc**k, Hensen, or Ghandhi; however, I suppose that, if they had to be done, they are rather tasteful. Let us be glad that the iPod hadn't surfaced at the time these were made, or we might have been subjected to a dancing shilouette of Louis Armstrong, Elvis, or John Lennon with kitschy white earbud wires.

Nah, the think different campaign wanted to reflect the values held by these people on Apple. Basically, they represent what apple tries to identify itself with. People see that and do the same. By posting this, Apple showed one of their people who they admire and tied that to the ideas and values held by all the others in the think different campaign. It's a priviledge to be one of those associated with the campaign, which is why as a marketing strategy, it targeted people who would identify with the same values held by the company and the people in the campaign. Anyone got any links for the think different campaign images? High res ones?
