don't blame apple's drm. blame the record companies. If Apple doesn't play nice with the recording industry that means apple doesn't get their nice big music catalog. Be thankful Steve Jobs hasn't hiked prices and put in more restrictions like the record companies want Apple to do.

Who the f**k cares? Throw out Fairplay, plays-for-sure and the other DRM crap and then let's talk.

Cisco= Linksys... now the rumors make some sense. Linksys could make some really cool stuff if they could get some leverage in exactly this area... perhaps the rumors based on those talks?

I guess all the self-important self-righteous swinging-dick geeks out there might just be the first to run out and try out the latest media centers in their homes, and have found that they ARE seriously effected by DRM in terms of purchased goods not being fit for purpose.I guess all the self-important self-righteous swinging-dick non-geeks who aren't effected YET, and who may still be learning how to use a mouse won't appreciate why the self-important self-righteous swinging-dick geeks have such a big issue with it until many years to come.I guess the moment of realization might be in 10 years time when you sit down on your hover-sofa to watch the latest digitally remastered boxset of hollyoaks, and are told that your media could not be recognized. Silly you... you spent all your pocket money on Microsoft's fancy new media center with holovision screen, but bought all your boxsets from itunes. You'll just have to go out and buy them all again, or buy Apples latest iTV gizmo, they'd like that!I guess good enough is not so good when it comes down to it, it's only good enough for self-important self-righteous swinging-dicks who use 1/8 of the technology that's here right now, and are content playing the 1 song they ever purchased (to prove they were hip) on their kids ipod.I guess that's why RIAA can continue to push DRM and why Apple and others will continue to support it... that is until all the self-important self-righteous swinging-dicks finally realize what a f*cking outrageous rip off it really is, and what it is they are PAYING for.Banter aside, I don't think you have a fair argument. Stealing is easy, DRM or non-DRM... this is clearly about the desire for instant access to high quality content in the home, and has nothing to do with piracy. The arguments are well documented. I've paid money for plenty of DRM music in the past and simply cannot play them 90% of the time as I rarely use my ipod. I wasn't aware of this restriction at the time of purchase as some of the devices weren't even around then. Right now illegal outlets are the only source for getting content that can be used unrestricted with current technology, there isn't anywhere else to go because of DRM!!
