appleinsider.com — Apple is planning a new iPod nano with twice the storage for its September quarter, reports AppleInsider. An analyst said, "Our most recent checks indicate the current 2GB and 4GB nano models will see their storage doubled to 4GB and 8GB capacities."

What makes this solution any less "real"? Just because it's not an "official apple release"? It plays videos doesn't it? It does everything the Apple firmware does and more. And besides, it's a very trivial thing to do really. Apple won't release a firmware upgrade to play video on the Nano, so I wouldn't hold your breath.

@spoonicusI have over 300GB of music files. I guess I just like a wider variety of music than you do.

"I mean do you really need 60GB of music when you go out for an early morning jog before breakfast?"I wouldn't recommend jogging with the 60GB (hard drive) iPod. That is why I have a nano, solid state memory isn't really impacted by the jarring motion of jogging. With that said, there's no such thing as too much memory. I love my 4GB nano, but 8GB would be nice. And, knowing Apple, it will probably stay at the same price point as the old 4GB model...

"EmilioLizardo" is an Apple Troll. He's always posting BS comments in every apple story on Digg. Its probably best to report/block him and ignore. Replying to his infuriating comments just makes him post more BS.

Can't you just spot those people who desperately want an ipod but can't afford one!Yup they are all in the ipod's are crap corner, alongside the I don't need the space nano owners whose budget wouldn't go to the video and are now eternally bitter.Let's face it nothing comes close to the 60Gb 5th gen. Well, perhaps the 30Gb, it is a little slimmer.

if gives the nano the ability to play video (which ipodlinux has proven is possible), i hope they are not so profit-driven as to create a firmware divide between gen1 and gen2 nano's. they should release an update to our nanos letting them play video...which i agree is pretty useless but a nice touch for a vidcast such diggation.
