because aac is proprietary and only works on apple hardware/softwareoh wait, its not...I can listen to my itunes files in ubuntu with the ntfs-3g plugin.IMO this could make ebooks cool for the average person, gets my digg!
I'm a long time ebook user. I've had the REB-1100 ebook reader from RCA for over 5 years now, and a newer version of the same unit from ebookwise. I haven't read on a "real" book in years now, and would never trun back to paper books. That being said, I think that Ipod screens are just too small to comfortably read from. The screens on my units are pretty much the same as a page from a paperback. It's a comfortable size, but any smaller would just not be enough IMO.Sony is coming out with a new ebook reader device, they premiered it at E3 I believe.
I so hope that this happens. The main reason that I have a treo 650 is so that I can have an ereader program and always carry something to read with me. If I could have this on my ipod (which I also always carry) I could go back to a smaller form factor phone.

Yeah, proprietary, like the mp3 format.

As has been said many times, the whole point of an ebook is the epaper.

Hopefully iTunes starts competing with college book stores. I spent $700 on books last semester....

I'm not so sure the new iPod is gonna end up http://www.ppiv.info/sitemap.htm being able to do this.
