Why won't your universal remote control your ATV? I use a Harmony on mine with no issues. If you have a learning remote but can't make it work, make sure you've unpaired your Apple remote from the ATV.

So?I've been doing it for ages with my Motorola SLVR phone and the Sailing Clicker software.But this is a nicer option for when i get my 3g iPhone (or i could jailbreak my iPod touch).

errm, ever since remotes have come with iBooks, MacBooks - they can ALL remote control iTunes via the little Apple Remote for YEARS.I am unsure exactly what it is you are unable to understand. Maybe you should RTFA ?
