So why is it that Apple continues to outperform (both in unit sales, but much moreso by revenue and profit) the rest of the PC industry by a healthy margin, even while the economy downturns? And is the total cost of ownership of an Apple computer actually more than a Windows PC, which seems to be a metric more and more people recognize these days?

It's fast, light, svelte, strong, lasts for a long time, and seems to do anything you need to 95% of the time. It's less innately media focused (while still having the option) and less immediately expandable (while still easily letting you toss in a USB hub and whatever devices you need), but what part of all that is "gimmick?"You have noticed that the ultra-portable segment is by and large extremely expensive in comparison, right?

I would really be interested in what's your take on the differences ( likes / dislikes ) between using Ubuntu on your HP Laptop, and using OSX on your 1 month old MacBook Pro...

@bobangitanov2 re your comment : " That's cause all gay man bought their partners a MAC for valentines day. "+1 for creative explanation of why the huge Apple sales bump in February (anyway, made me laugh). You sir, are a genius.

Seriously? Complaining about calling it the iTouch? That's the biggest contribution you can make? It's an interesting comparison -- good design in electronics sells products, something which was established at the very beginning of the consumer electronics revolution with the Walkman and Betamax Camcorder, yet was mostly ignored until Apple.
