macenstein.com — We have it on good authority (meaning this is a rumor, and “good authority” could mean anything) that Apple is ready to drop its final update to yesterday’s OS, aka “Tiger”. That’s right. 10.4.12 is allegedly ready to roll, and will spring forth in less than 2 weeks or so

Yes. Leopard hasn't been out that long and still has some outstanding issues. Hell, people still use 10.3 from what I hear.

I'm on 10.4.11 with Wireless-G/N without any problems other than my ISP causing network problems_ As far as wireless goes_ Otherwise 10.4.11 has been glitchy as hell and have been wanting to migrate back to 10.1.10 ever since - but haven't had time to do so_ At this point the 10.4.12 update [at least for me] is pointless as I am soon to migrate to Leopard_ I was waiting for a few plugins and extensions to be updated for Leopard and that just happened and now it's a matter of "spring cleaning" and time_ Which may or may not happen in the next 2 weeks - so we'll see_

Nice! That sailed about a mile over heads of most diggers.

Apple has never been one to look back. I would say it's a flaw, naturally, but it's consistent, so I think maybe it's not that they're lazy, or greedy and manipulative, it's just that they are just the type of business that likes to stay focused on the future to ensure that their company stays as close to the curve as possible.

FACT: I have WAY WAY WAY more crashes on my macbook(10.5.2) than on my Vista desktop or XP laptop(which also happens to be under speced and from 1998).FACT: Apple fanboys are already burying this comment for being truthful.

Thank you -- since I do not own a MAC (though I occasionally use one), I really did not know how they price it. Essentially the Z versions are free 'service packs' and the Y's are the actual OS upgrades, and the X is the sweet-spot for marketing speak. The numbering makes sense now.

Ah, Tiger. The Mac OS where I didnt have to use a bunch of 3rd partys & terminal hacks to bring back basic usability (dock, menu bar).http://game.paramegsoft.com/http://download.paramegsoft.com/
