amphetameme.org — At Amphetameme, we've been trying to figure out what Apple's up to next. We think it's a full-screen, touchscreen iPod that also happens to connect to every damn thing under the sun. We think it's also likely this (the new one we think will show up in April) or the next generation to come is a phone.

Whether this speculation holds weight or not. I also see this general behavior coming. I expect it rather from Google--a sort of "Google Phone." I heard recently legislation is being created to tax wifi--a sign that a large wifi market is soon to emerge.

This may only be speculation, and I don't think that all of these things are going to happen. I mean, I'm pretty sure that Jobs is very keen on the idea of specialised devices, as opposed to Swiss Army knives that do everything, but nothing exceptionally well. This might just be because I like those sorts of devices (the dedicated ones) and Apple provides them though. The idea of an Apple phone seems . . . likely, the information this speculation is based on makes it seem very reasonable to assume that somewhere down the line, Apple will start making phones. But will the phone be an "iPod phone?" I honestly doubt it.An iPod with WiFi capabilities may be on the cards, but then again, that doesn't mean anything other than the fact that we can't find anything to say that Apple will not do it.

Our local cable network uses similar setups for two channels that show college and local information. They just fire-up powerpoint and start a slideshow. On numerous occasions while channel surfing I've flipped past either channel to find a similar Windows error message, a BSOD, or someone rebooting and working in the box while updating the presentation. TOO FUNNY!

Apple is currently working on curing cancer and AIDS. Here is how we can tell:1. Apple is good.2. To be good, Apple must only do good things.3. Curing cancer and AIDS would be a good thing.Nows the time to start celebrating.Geeze, fanboy articles like this kinda piss me off. They don't have any evidence except "apple is registered to sell cellphones" and "apple should make their own cell phone, because it would be cool". Apple does a lot of stuff, and not that much comes from it. How many people remember all those touch screen ibook rumors from a few years back? Before the ROKR came out, everyone was also positive it would be APPLE would would make the iTunes cellphone, despite the fact that the thing was useless and didn't sell.

I like the bold shiny future of Minority Report. I cannot wait until we have shiny, gesture-based touch screen interfaces. I cannot wait until there is complete synergy across devices with the help of the company. The company knows what is best and only makes the best things. I need the best things because the company told me I need them.It will be good when the company can see to all of my needs. When my needs are met, I know that the company will tell me about my other needs. I know that the company will be good because its president will tell me that he is good. Anyone who tells me otherwise is wrong. The company is good. I know that the company will help me express myself. The company will tell me to think differently and I will because that will be good.

Dugg. A place where everything is going to be integrated would be nice. However, one company would have to do this for it to work. This will probably be Apple.

To the whiners about posting rumors, speculation, etc: For what it's worth, I submitted the story, and yes, Amphetameme.org is one of the sites I'm an editor of that I linked to. If you read the rules of submission for Dugg, it does say that it is acceptable for a user of Dugg to submit their own site. I very clearly state it's just speculation. The content is the same as any opinion article and frankly, if you don't want to read that kind of article, don't read it. If the title of the story wasn't enough for you to guess it's speculation and not 100% fact, at least the first few paragraphs on the article itself should be enough. Again, if you don't like commentary, don't dugg it, don't read it. If you like it, and you can see the author's done their best to back up their concepts with what facts they've been able to piece together, well then, no problem, just Dugg the article. As for the folks who appreciated the story, thanks. The folks at Amphetameme are learning what they can and trying hard not to post foundless rumors. We try and be pretty careful, despite being a political opinion site about having some sort of fact or reference backing up what we post. Thanks for digging a great idea, and let's hope Apple follows through. I only hope Jonathan's right. The bottom line is, as far as Bluetooth and WiFi is concerned it's a cool thing to add to any device on the market right now. If Apple can do it cheaply, more power to them. As for why Jonathan thinks all these things are going into Apple's products when we're showing third party announcements is because It's not uncommon for Apple or the people who work with them to announce chips, software or products ahead of schedule of their release. In fact you can almost expect Apple to take advantage of these things even if they never become part of the iPod. But all of these things taken together bring a pretty convincing argument to the table that we might actually see the iPhone, if not in this generation (touchscreen, which is likely given Apple's need to enlarge the Pod's screen size, you have to get screen from somewhere, why not the face of the pod itself) it'll arrive in the next generation. The demand for more universal device (phone/music) is there, and those who want only the pod itself (no phone) will probably find themselves getting a Nano or larger device that's got expanded storage, but no phone.
