osx86project.org — Happy Valentine's Day... from Maxxuss. According to The OSx86 Project, the "hacking guru" has broken Apple's security measures in OS X 10.4.4, which were stronger than all previous releases combined. The article has a great discussion on the implications of this event.

"And then at that point who would bother buying Apple hardware and then Apple ceases to exist due to lack of fund-age. Nice going ding-dongs."There are a ton of companies out there selling hardware and doing a good job of it. Apple can do the same. If they really need OSX to sell thier hardware than thier hardware must be crap.People will still buy apple hardware even if OSX is available for every PC. Because Macs are PC's now. With very good design. If anything apple will reach a much much larger audience and probably make a killing.

This is not any stupid thing that Apple fanboys have said would never happen!! The Apple fanboys say that OS X will never get a virus, and it probably will not! I hope you flamebait windows zealots will please shut up. And also, expect the prices on Apple's shelf stock of OS X to go up.

kudos to Maxxuss. I bet apple had some pretty good security but you can't stop someone if there really determined. I hope this shows apple how much of a demand for an open platform OSX there is. If not I'll probably get one of the soon to come Intel ibooks.

Take a look at this review of hacking OSX -- a great analysis of the situation for Apple: macadell.comApple is going to be forced eventually to make a general OS X "for everybody" release, if the crack keeps rolling. And then OSX will really have a chance of beating MS at the desktop game.

"... And then OSX will really have a chance of beating MS at the desktop game."due to general ignorance and apathy I dont think Apple stand a chance.

No I think back to NeXT inc. When they stopped making Hardware and sold, just software the company went broke. They had to sell to Apple to keep from being closed downI don't think that we would like to see that happen to Apple. So they should stay just as they are.I'm sure that Steve Jobs would agree here.
