macenstein.com — This commercial represents somewhat of a pinnacle in Apple’s “Get A Mac” ad campaign. It seems Apple now considers the Mac vs. PC duo iconic enough characters that they can be portrayed in a new medium and still be recognized. We wouldn’t be surprised if Jobs convinced Pixar to pump this one out.

Paying homage or copying a style in an attempt to resonate with thirtysomething hipsters who remember the old Christmas shows?

Actually they're effective because they have personified the PC as clumsy, socially inept, and frightful of competition. This ad campaign has a strong enough message and it's not solely reliant on public feedback.

Quicktime is just a virus anyway. (No sorry forgot Real Media is still worse.)I mean it's not incompatible just about everything but web browsers, you have to use the official player, and there's no full screen playback. It's best to avoid or get the "Quicktime Alternative" reverse engineered codec.
