time.com — If you've ever wondered how it works, this is how it works: I don't call Steve, Steve calls me. Or more accurately, someone in Steve Jobs's office calls someone in my office—someone at a much higher pay grade —to say that he has something cool.

Excellent article. It really will be interesting to see how the market reacts to the emergence of this new entrant.

It's sneak PEEK, not sneak PEAK.Unless a mountain range suddenly appeared without warning while the reporter was writing the article; that, I suppose, would qualify as a sneak peak.(edit: omaryak mentioned this a couple of hours ago - I didn't notice because this drives me SO nuts, I raced to the bottom of the page to vent before looking!)

"and the iPhone certainly won't run OSX as well as a MacBook Pro."Now there's a deal-breaker. Screw the iPhone, I'm getting a MacBook Pro instead! Wha?

Touchscreen isn't patent protected by one company. Only Apple's manufactoring technique is. Think of all the patents that went out for the ipod and other companies still made knock-offs. Albeit cheap knock-offs. Expect the same. Who knows someone out there, dare I say it might have better touch-screen Tech.

I feel such a minority - personally I was disappointed seeing what they're gonna do for the iphone. It does look pretty, but most things in brushed aluminium and stainless steel do, you just have to be willing to pay for it. And everything by touch-screen, all very minimal and apple like, but a full qwerty keyboard on a 3.5 inch touch screen (so you can't feel the buttons) is asking a lot from fat fingers like mine. Maybe its ok if you have girl hands, it does look a little feminine. Come on people, think different.

yes i agree. when i watched the keynote last night i was blown away at how amazing the iphone is. it is in every sense of the word...revolutionary. from my very first Macintosh IIsi to my macbook pro, apple continues to deliver products that take my breath away, lol. im just sad that i will have to cancel my verizon service just to get the phone. Im not too fond of cingular and my motoQ is a pretty decent device, but it runs windows...and well...why have windows when you can have OSX on a phone :P
