Actually, most people who have purchased ipods before are willing to purchase another ipod for whatever reason they see fit. My ipod mini (1st generation) is about 2.5 years old. At this point, my mp3 player is starting to hiccup a little bit and the battery definitely does not last very long. You could say that I am in the market for a new mp3 player this holiday. I think it has more to do with the fact that people who purchased their ipods a while ago are probably going to "upgrade" to a newer ipod.
The Zune is big news right now, thats for sure. In a year, everyone will have forgotten about it, and it will be another chapter in MS's history of failed hardware products.
I predict ??I predict ??Are you frickin kidding me?! I predict, by Christmas you'll still be a virgin living in your mom's basement. Let's see which prediction is more accurate
$1700 for my new 20" iMac as well. They got $999 from me last quarter too when I purchased a MacBook with the free iPod nano with AIO printer promotion. That's nearly $3K of Apple gear in one year. A record for me. :)/I'm a designer so the gear does come in handy.//It's also tax deductible, which is nice.
One would be wrong assuming that. The iPod may own the DAP market now, but the DAP market has a LOT of growing room left. So there's still tremendous opportunity for Apple in that space. And combining an iPod nano with cell phone functionality could be a HUGE market for Apple, making the current iPod market look miniscule in comparison.

Nvidia and ATI fanboys did not see "their" companies almost die, then rise to its former glory.
