tuaw.com — Could Apple soon offer the ability to purchase a software upgrade that removes the 100 song cap of the ROKR and SLVR? If this screenshot and the code snippets that led up to it are true, these phones could finally become appealing.

Hey, h2d2, where are you living. RTFA from Engadget, or elsewhere. It IS Apples decision. If they wanted to use the iTunes software (and be able to link to iTunes libraries, with FairPlay DRM) they had the 100 song (remember, Apple initially wanted a 25 song cap). Take it or leave it.

This does not work. The cap is still at 100 even after you do this. Do not dig.

LISTEN UP: 1) Apple came out and said that it was for non-Us customers ONLY! Apparently some Eurpean countires got the ROKR witha cap of 25 songs or so. They intend to upgrade to 100-song cap out. This DOES NOT apply to the US

I have a SLVR from Cingular and it absolutely does play MP3's... The ITunes interface is nice... just like an IPOD. But if you can stand to just play from a list, you can transfer any MP3 to the storage card by right-clicking and sending in Windows XP, then play it on the phone speaker, wired stereo headset, or bluetooth headset. You can also , transfer the MP3's via bluetooth from phone to phone. Works the same with bluetooth. FInally, you can use MP3's as ringtones.
