engadget.com — Right, not for offensive language in the app itself, but for offensive language on Twitter -- an insanely strict new standard. Hell, Apple might as well reject the next versions of Safari and Mail, since they can display dirty words too -- and let's not forget the awful things people are doing with Notes and the camera.

I guess you don't understand the concept of sarcasm or irony. right now the top podcast on iTunes is Adam Carolla, yet apple won't allow a twitter app that could potentially display "f**k" to be downloaded on itunes? anyway the Tweetie update has now been approved, so this is already old news

I get the sense there is this open office space with a bunch of cubicles where "tier 1" approval people sit and all they do is vet apps. It's up to each individual person. Unfortunately, this update went to some idiot who doesn't understand Twitter or app development in general, and nixed it on their own authority.
