news.cnet.com— A stellar quarter in the face of one of the weakest holiday shopping periods in recent memory has Apple executives and investors feeling fine. But the waters are still choppy.

Apple proves recession-resistant what to whom?{pedantic} Apple proves TO BE recession-resistant, for now {/pedantic}The modern version of Hamlet's soliloquy: "Or not. That is the question."
Nothing is technically virus-proof, but OS X is as close it gets. I challenge you to find a virus for OS X in the wild. Show me right now where it's at. I'm on a Mac. Maybe you can even infect me.I bet you can't because it doesn't exist. So I fail to see how an Apple employee is misleading someone when they say that the Mac their about to purchase won't get a virus. And don't bring up market share or time. Apple has more market share than they ever did during the years of OS 9, and OS 9 was susceptible to loads of viruses. OS X has been out on the market for almost 8 years and it still hasn't happened.
You're an idiot and you don't understand what makes customers flock to Apple. It's not for "luxury" computers. It's for a better product and overall experience. Unless you use a Mac on a daily basis instead of playing around with one or two with a closed mind, you'll never understand. iPods are NOT the main attraction. They are part of the whole ecosystem just like the iPhone is. Apple knows how to build awesome products that people want. Just because they're priced higher than cheap bastards like you want to pay, it does not mean that they're a luxury item. I buy Macs because they are the best. I will continue doing so for that reason and, a recession won't stop me.
We bought in at 130; saw it go up to 195; gasped at 120; saw it go up to 165 and said "Whew!"; now REALLY groaning. Waves? We SINCERELY hope so... (Of course, we're true D***A**E* who bought into TMA too. So there.)
The iPhone saved the company, just like the iPod and iMac before it.Here's hoping Apple release a really usable touchpad computer and reinvent the whole "netbook" concept.
AAPL had a great christmas because they have an excellent selection of gift-priced gadgets. As the economy worsens (and it will), as AAPL continues to operate without Steve Jobs, as the recession reaches the upper class (starting now, worse by March and the impact will be obvious by summer) then I think that claim of "recession proof" the submitter used will seem silly. It's impressive that AAPL did so well in the last quarter compared to companies like IBM and Microsoft, but perhaps it's market segment is just delayed a quarter, or two, and the OMG moment for AAPL is yet to come?
