appleinsider.com— Apple has begun this month to slow production of its existing Core Duo MacBook Pro professional notebooks ahead of refreshed models that will sport Intel's higher-performance Core 2 Duo microprocessors

ThinkPad is the other laptop that has not yet gotten a Merom chip so Apple is not the only one.It annoyed me how IBM (back before they were acquired by Lenovo) would release the latest CPUs behind the curve.I'm still waiting to get my T60p with the T7600 Core 2 Duo chip in it.. recently I learnt that they'll be releasing the laptops in November so I cancelled my Core Duo order just so I can get the most powerful latop. When Apple switched to intel chips, I was excited that we'd get high-end laptops which can also run Windows. Imagine my disappointment when I read all of these reports of noise, heat and general poor workmanship on the latest models.I hope its because they were totally outsourced; hate to think Apple's dropped the ball on this one. With their reputation, I won't even allow them "first model" excuse.Ah well, my Mac Mini is humming along perfectly and I'm positively impressed with OSX (with caveats.)
I just ordered a refurb'd MBP. It should be here by MondayI'm telling myself to relax and enjoy it rather than stress about it being superceded. But if arrives and runs noisy, do you reckon they'll take it back so I can wait for the next generation models?HOWEVER, I bet its a LONG time before any refub MBP C2D models are available right?
Apple should work more towards making the hardware robust rather than putting faster processors (just for the sake of it). New MBP will come with all sorts of winning, heating, scratching problems etc.
Awesome. Now how about an optional integrated CSD/GPRS/EDGE/3G/HSDPA modem running on 850, 900, 1800, 1900 and 2100MHz? Slide the SIM into a slot under the latop's battery and you have WiFi Everywhere. For the Verizon fans, an EVDO modem would also be a smart addition to the MBP line.Does anybody else see how this would be an excellent addition to a "Professional" Notebook?

The Mac fanboys are the only ones that can answer that.

If only they'd make a 12" macbook pro, I'd buy one in a second.
