My bet is that we see an eee inspired apple budget line. There's no reason that apple couldn't say, include a few gigs of flash on their computers by default for booting the OS instantly like some PC makers have started to do with linux, but in their case they could do it with the whole OS. In such a machine you could make hard drives almost totally optional by including a small default option like 4gig or 8gig solid state drive, and with Intel's Atom platform making a machine like that actually functional for a end user would be quite doable. Apple could make a mac the size of a first gen iPod.

99% of Eee users don't hack it.I'm thinking for what you'd get by taking a MacBook, removing the HDD and DVD, replace the Core 2 Duo with an Atom, and squizzing it up with a smaller screen. Target price $500.

Tablet PCs are a failure and outdated technology, which is why Apple never entered the market and innovated. Multi-touch belongs in truly portable devices like the iPhone, not on laptops because it doesn't offer any benefit.Tablet PCs suck, get over it.
