our patent laws are so absurd as to require companies to patent any and all things they consider new. Otherwise someone else will get a patent for something like copying/downloading a media file faster than you can play it in real time.

Or they could just *not* use slot loading drives.What if other companies used this approach to loading?How would you like a slot loading washing machine?Or a slot loading refrigerator?Slots just don't make sense for putting things into or removing things from other things. There's always going to be a use case where you need to insert or remove something that's not exactly the size of the slot.

I think it would be cheaper just to seal the shipping containers air tight then fill them with hydrogen gas.. That would reduce the shipping weight just as well..
