CDMA networks also exist in Australia. They're pushed by our monopoly telco as a lock-in tool, but CDMA works better in regional areas than GSM, so some people have no choice.

why divx, you can still do what you want with mpeg4 and you can use software to rip your own content. Surely someone who's heard of divx has heard of handbrake.

You mean like when they entered the music market five years ago? creative, sony etc sure had a stranglehold on that market.

And you expect Apple to do this! Seriously, they have no previous experience in phones, and their current run of fist generation products are riddled with flaws (quite ironic that you mention battey issues - we have their laptop batteries being recalled currently, then their were iPod batteries from a couple of years back....). Well, the music player might work well on it......

This is quite amusing. All these Apple fans, who have no idea if there is going to even be a phone are commiting to buying it already. No idea what features it will have, if it is reliable or not (unlikely considering Apple is new to the mobile phone market, and it is a first gen product). About the only thing that is fairly certaion about the phone (if it materialises) is that it will have the trendy little logo. Just shows that most people posting here are just a bunch of fanboys, that will snap up anything by Apple. iDiots.(How many negative Diggs will I get for pointing that out!!!!!)
