We can only hope that Google told them to f**k off. Then again, who gives a s**t about multitouch? After years of hype, it has been shown doing exactly two things: zooming and rotating. Whoop dee f**king do.
Multitouch IS a solution looking for a problem. So far, it has proven to be nearly worthless in the vast majority of apps. How many goddamned things do you need to rotate and zoom? Even on the iPhone, the double-tap to zoom into a region of a Web page is far faster and more effective than pinching and spreading it to zoom.Look at all the video of multitouch from the years of hype, and you'll see people shoving, rotating, and zooming stuff. THAT'S IT. Big damned deal.Instead of dicking around with multitouch, Apple should release a LEGITIMATE SDK, so developers can have apps that communicate between computer and mobile device, and access the USB port on the phone. Most of the apps in the App Store are trivial gimmicks and games, because the SDK still doesn't allow the iPhone to be used as the handheld computer it is. SAD.

LOL. What a ludicrous concept. Might as well try to patent the pencil and paper. Copyright law is a lousy postmodern joke.
