consumerist.com — Charlie asked her family to chip in towards a new (refurbished) Apple computer by sending her Apple gift cards for Christmas. All told she received 8 cards with a total of $900 distributed among them. Since Christmas she's been saving her pennies and finally the other day she went on-line to buy her computer. There were only 4 slots for gift cards.

Because its against policy for any company that sells gift cards to let you use a gift card to purchase gift cards. If you'd read the comments prior you'd see someone actually tried to do it over the internet and it won't let you. If you want to consolidate you'd probably have to go into an actual apple store, which defeats the whole purpose of trying to order over the web or the phone.Your being buried because you don't know wtf your talking about and a general idiot.

This sucks, but it comes back to hardware and software. If you do not like Windows and miss features that either Mac or Windows have (looking at Linux), Mac is what is left. Apple played this poorly, but few other companies could claim to be much better. You can either deal with one problem, or go with multiple problems from another computer. And yes, I do own a Mac. I've used many different kinds of computers over the years, and nothing works for my needs as well as a Mac. I'll buy a PC when they are the only computer available (and with current trends, this seems like it is a long ways away).
