a better test would be to strip each os down completely. disable all extra running processes and services from the startup disable all resource hogging effects then test.vista is more targeted to the new computer user or users who are ready to dump the old 400MHz windows 98 based pc and move to something new. while any pc running vista will feel sluggish compared to the same pc running windows xp, it will feel much faster than a 400MHz pc running windows 98for me, i have my os completely strip down (windows XP 11 running processes at startup, all un needed services disabled unneeded system drivers and other crap that windows loads up but never uses unless your a large corporate user. with this, windows xp starts up in under 17 seconds and uses only around 50MB memory )and with no effects no animations in the ui effects, everything is fast and instant.and compared to vista, my stripped down xp has over 1GB/s more memory bandwidth in the everest benchmark vista comes with crap even when you buy the stock cd by default it comes with a lot of crap and is very slow even chris pirillo (former host of the tv show call for help) complained about vista being sluggish on his 8 core 16GB memory mac pro
You're building a new computer. You're most likely using your current keyboard, mouse, and monitor to order the parts from Newegg to begin with. ;-)As stated elsewhere, this was a parts/performance claim, not a "match the whole package." Part of the reason TO build your own computer to begin with is to be extremely modular, and re-use whatever you can re-use.I have a 24" monitor in front of me. It's a sizable DISadvantage that I can't get iMac-level performance from an Apple computer without spending a lot extra on components I don't want... including the screen!
"InaccurateReaders have reported that this story contains information that may not be accurate."LOL. Poor PC users can't see the forest for the trees. You mocked Apple users for a decade. And this is what we call sweet revenge. Microsoft will collapse so fast its going to be stunning to watch.
"higher spec'd CPU on less expensive hardware" oh does that mean we can play the bang for your buck game again? I love watching mac fans cry about how much they got for their money.
I have to dugg this down this is really pointless. Again about the speed and etc. Here is the deal if you love, windows, mac , linux and other OS`es Love it. I cant belived this is in the front page. In the end is what you thinks is the best for your self and worth it.
People can nit pick this article apart with good reason, but the general thrust of it is correct: there is little difference between the traditional Wintel PCs and a Mac running OSX or Vista. Choice is a good thing, Apple being able to create hardware that can run Vista on par with the other manufactures and also provide an OS that can compete with Vista is quite a remarkable thing taken in context.
are you freakin KIDDING ME? Macs keyboard and mouse are the MOST COMFORTABLE ive ever used. The keyboard is just amazing and thin.. and reality check, mighty mouse has right click and you can always HOLD CTRL while you click

Personally I prefer Coke since it's the original cola.

I think they're trying to say that the imac is a better value, considering its cheaper price and higher speed.

@Spuy767If you want I can flub a test together where your new mac book pro gets beat by a 486, but that's not exactly fair is it?
