awkwardtv.org— Ozy from the AwkwardTV project has found a way to boot the Apple TV from an external USB drive attached to it, without opening the Apple TV case or removing the internal hard disk.

I bought a P4 1.8 for $200 used and put XP on it. It has full codec support, no proprietary restrictions, no DRM, a DVD player and a much larger hard drive than this thing. Most wide screen TV's have VGA or HDMI inputs on them. Done deal. What does anyone need this thing for?
If you're going to hook up a larger form factor 3.5" hard drive, just get a USB external. It obviously doesnt have any problems booting off one. :-) External cases are so cheap these days anyway

I sure hope someone posts every goddamned Apple TV tweak, mod, hack, or booger-wiping. But after the UNBOXING, how can anything compare?

I immediately realized it was the video and didn't check mail.app. Really.

I'm hoping it will eventually with enough hacking, the AppleTV would make a terrific PVR.

And I'm willing to bet your P4 box is ugly, heavy, wide, and uses a LOT more energy. There's more to the equation than meets the eye.

Quite doubtful. How do you think is it really possible?
