thestreet.com— Downloading and watching recent movies -- in high-definition, from the comfort of your living room -- is a stupendous experience. It could become habit-forming (exactly what Apple probably has in mind.)

Hopefully much needed internet infrastructure upgrades for Australia and other such backwards countries are on their way so we can enjoy this too. Currently if I rented 1 HD movie I'd be half way through my monthly download allowance - go figure.
Yeah you need a Blu-ray player for Blu-rays.... just like you need an AppleTV for AppleTV.. don't you?? As for time, I pretty much always have a disc on hand since you get three at a time. Plus Netflix offers unlimited instant watching. If I watch on average 3 movies a week, it will cost me $17/month on Netflix compared to $60/month on AppleTV.
The one good reason for AppleTV supporting DVR is to be able to *easily* port recorded TV shows to iPod/Phones... which would cut into their iTunes TV offerings--so it's not gonna happen.
geoken: Even if you're talking about just movies, your comment is still wildly inaccurate! You can absolutely add descriptions, artwork, and tags to your existing movie files! I've done this ever since video support was added to iTunes. I've been changing the metadata even for TV shows that were originally downloaded from the iTunes Store. Again, it's ludicrous to say that you can't organize your music or movies however you want.To be clear, you *do* have to go through iTunes to do this. But it *is* possible, and things purchased from the iTunes Store are *not* more easily modified than regular video files. And since it's easy to just sync an Apple TV to an existing iTunes library, it isn't convoluted at all. What would be convoluted is to add that capability to the Apple TV interface. It's a good interface because it's simple.Seriously, use the damn product before making inaccurate statements like this.

Well of course it looks better than 480i/p, but when you compare it to an upconverted DVD the compression is clear.http://www.roughlydrafted.com/RD/RDM.Tech.Q1.07/D1 ...

the pain of Apple Tv being futuristic is here to stay.http://digg.com/apple/Apple_TV_redefined_for_willi ...
