what they should have done is added a cable line in, and allow you to record TV to the hard drive...A great semi-viral effort would be to not right any restrictions on thew HD...thus allowing experienced users to crack open their AppleTV and swap the HD to a larger one.
why would you want to play games on this thing? really it just a big buffer between your tv and your computer so you don't need to have a homedock or some other thing to watch movies on your tv. you wouldn't want to hack a homedock to play games on your tv so why do you want to do that with appletv? the only reason apple put a hard drive in there is to lighten the load on your home network so your not streaming gigs and gigs of files and causing your isp to shut your account off. i really doubt that apple is going to turn this into a true media center you will probably be able to purchase itunes content on here but i really don't think they would have you record live tv. this is not the box for that job and eyetv would kill anything apple does. they might buy elgato though i thought that was going to happen when they annouced "itv".

Use Disk Utility to do a block copy and keep an image for just-in-caseties.
