Interesting that it was released, I believe, at 5:00am Pacific. This is a rather interesting morning but I wasn't really surprised. This was comming but what will really be exciting is the ibook replacement. Funny that I heard about it through this story. Hoorah to Digg!
The XPS is a GAMING machine. It is easily twice as fast as the MBP. The precision is a business laptop, not consumer. The closest is probably the e1705 which when configured to the same spec and a coupon used will come out anywhere from 500-1000 cheaper. Just accept the fact that Apple builds what some consider a premium product, so you pay a premium price. LIVE WITH IT.
Given the reported heat issues and whining on the 15" version, I just cancelled my 17" pre-order and switched it for a 20" iMac. I wonder how many others are doing the same. Version 1 products are risky bets at best.

I believe Emilio is referring to Rosetta running non universal binary apps.

Oh my, almost $4000 for the 17". I can build a state of art gaming system with that money. Definitely not for me.

Maybe you haven't seen the Ferrari 4000, theres barely any red on it, and it was the first mainstream carbon fibre laptop, I win.

There has been strange modding in this comment branch: interesting comments about resolution modded down, why?
