insanely-great.com — A Samsung exec last month ran off at the mouth, revealing that Samsung's PortalPlayer would drive the next-gen iPod Nano...“It is not surprising that Apple would ‘punish’ Samsung for commenting publicly about the iPod Nano follow-on, and we believe that SigmaTel is likely to be the resulting beneficiary of the Samsung executive’s gaffe"

Mr. Apple Fanboy, do you believe Apple wanted to purchase 40% of their nand memory just because of the goodness of their heart?Or could it be because Samsung had the best price/quality ratio?Samsung is a very versatile compamny, 40% their flash memory is just a small part of their income. Now, if Apple drops them, let's see where they get their flash memory, and how good it will be. I wouldn't worry about Samsung at all.

What is Apple compared to the Samsung Group? They make everything from cars to tiny NAND chips. And FYI, just their electronics division (the one under discussion here) has a market cap almost twice as much as Apple's ($102 billion compared to Apple's $52 B)

@ radu79 - besides the 40% purchase of flash memory, this is also about branding. Right now "iPod" is the s**t and every business either wants to be apart of it or jump on the media player bandwagon. Its never good for any size company to be publicly "banished" from the latest fad.
