t3.co.uk — Diagrams suggest that a ?modular controller?, most likely their new TV squirting device, would sit at the middle allowing you to hook up anything from branded hi-def DVD players, a PVR, a Mac Mini or even their own freeview box.

"The idea seems to be that you’ll be able to build your own media centre, choosing whatever takes your fancy."Hmm seems I can already build my own media centre, choosing whatever takes my fancy. Maybe they should've said, "choosing whichever Apple components take your fancy."

"Diagrams suggest that a ?modular controller?, most likely their new TV squirting device...."I'm sorry folks, but I find the term 'squirting' to be offensive. It is a Steve Ballmer marketing moron term. It belongs in the Microsoft camp. Applying 'squirt' to anything Apple does is worthy of a wanker.:-P

And, what's more, while Apple still won't be working in a vacuum where the studios are concerned, there will be much less direct pressure from them for DRM. The recordings won't be bit-perfect, anyway - and that's what studios are worried about.I have a PVR, and it doesn't slap DRM on anything I record. Why would Apple add it of their own free will if there's no pressure from studios? Especially since Apple have been at pains recently to demonstrate that they don't think DRM is the way to do things. However, if they do do this, it'll use H.264, which will probably piss some people off as much as using DRM.

"The whole idea of the Apple TV is to get away from that."But Front Row, which is essentially the Apple TV's brainer brother, supports DVD. I don't see any reason why Apple won't support it (or Blu-ray) in the future.
