I own one of these old rigs and they're decent machines; mine runs OS X Panther very well despite its age. One day the power supply started making a loud noise (sounded like a diesel engine), which I 'fixed' with a swift kick to the side of the case. The noise stopped and the machine kept on running. Go figure.
@ stealthgear - agreed man, agreed. It's a damn great machine, and with some 3rd party upgrades, it can achieve even more power.But, not all machines are salvageable. :/
This really pisses me off. Not only do I really like that particular design of Mac (I have one loitering under my desk) but loaded with OS X 10.3 it would have made a perfectly good computer for a family who couldn't afford to buy one. "What's one less crappy computer in the world?" you ask. It's one less computer someone could use...
