businessweek.com — In recent years, Apple (AAPL) has been hammered by several environmental groups. Greenpeace singled it out for its use of toxic chemicals in 2007, and it has done poorly in rankings of the greenest corporations. The criticism is jarring for a company with a cool, progressive image and Mr. Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore, on its board.

I think that 38% for transportation is actually supposed to be 5%, don't know how they f**ked that up, lol.

So much of Apple's negative score is because they don't project how good they'll be in the future. Instead they just do it. Greenpeace just likes jumping on Apple because it gives them press.

Have Apple increased their green efforts then? They have been really into making and proving their products are green for about two years now.

Actually most Mac users just sell their old gear and get back a pretty good chunk of what they paid. Take a two year old laptop and a MacBook that sold for nearly the same price (no this isn't about what's cheaper. There are PC laptops that sell at the same price) and put them both on eBay or Craigslist. Which is going to bring back a better return? If you think they'll both be nearly the same then you're as stupid as your post makes you out to be.

You have to buy another one. That's why the product usage is such a high percentage.

I'm no lover of Apple, but I'd buy a Macbook Air before I supported Greenpeace's single-minded agenda.

What in the hell does Greenpeace want exactly? Apple is leading the industry in green computing and taking this issue head on. It's high priority for them and they continue to make great improvements. It seems they're bitch only to bitch at this point. In fact, if I were Dell I would say "Why bother? Nothing makes these people happy anyway".
