"This business is on fire and has been beating estimates for years now." Exactly, they are due a fall. No data, just a feeling. Change is inevitable for any person, country or company. Nothing stays on top forever. To my instincts and based on lots of little signs, Apple are starting to believe their own hype - which for a person, country or company usually signals a downfall.

They're going to need an ace up their sleeve like that if they want to pull off 10 million/year. That'd be a Kindle/Nook/Sony-thing killer for sure.

Microsoft already tried the Tablet idea, Project Origami. Now that the Atom is out, apple is going to give it a shot.

The one I bought (for my boss) is not one of those swivel models. It is a true tablet. It is just over 1cm thick and weights just over 1.5kg. Looking at a similar model of IBM (but it is still thicker so would not have pleased my boss), would be the Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet X200 7449. Currently selling (without VAT) at £1364...Also, IBM don't make notebook or tablet computers any more, and didn't when this was bought. That would be Lenovo. There is no way in hell you bought a new tablet for $600.

I have the same question.I'm guessing that it will be their e-reader and might attract people who use e-readers but who also want more functionality.

True. And all they really did is take the personal MP3 player (which they didn't invent) and combine it with a cellular phone (which they didn't invent either). They're good at re-making other products. But they haven't "come out with" anything for ages.

Yes, if you compare a desktop with anything more portable of the same price, you get less performance. It's almost as if portability costs something.
