Malwarebytes does a great job of getting rid of it. The getting dugg down is probably because the OP posted an image from Linux with the Antivirus 2009 popup from the website responsible for distributing it to dumb users.
It's a smart virus... relatively speaking. The majority of people use Windows and aren't tech savvy (Sorry if i am speaking down, i see some ignorant comments here). It's the tech savvy job to educate people is all, and not to f**king TALK DOWN TO THEM like so many do. Simply show the alternatives if you use Mac or Linux or show them what they are actually using and what to look for. f**king Windows failing to protect their consumers again.
My ex is also still 1/2-time parent to our (now 14yo) son, so civility sets a good example for him.BTW, your -1 digg was someone else. I'm fine with just replying.

I recommend aliasing 'sudo apt-get install' to 'install'.. I don't know why they don't do that by default yet.'install ubuntu-restricted-extras'
