Let's face it - Microsoft is scared. They have been a sleeping giant for way too long. They are capable of innovation only when something threatens them. They feel threatened now. Fact of the matter is Windows 7 will probably shuffle off a lot of this Linux movement but Apple and Linux are the only reason MS doesn't just scramble up a filetype, and re-release it as something "new", and charge full price for it every couple years (even though they do try as hard as possible to, Office 2k, Office 2k2, etc etc etc)Netbooks are Linux's wedge into the home - into the minds of the average user. Linux is getting mentioned more and more often. People are starting to ponder: What is this Linux thing all about? The more they ponder, the more likely they are to try it. In a day and age where computer usage isn't just a skill, but a mandatory life-skill, more and more people are realizing that Microsoft might not be all it's cracked up to be.I'm not going to claim "This is the year of the Linux Desktop!" - But it's been the "Year of Linux" for a LONG time now in the server market. It's only a matter of time before some standards are put in place, more vendors hop on-board and Microsoft will be wishing they didn't try to strong-arm the market like this. Here's a tip Microsoft: People will buy your products if they are good! People won't buy your products when you remix them and shove it down their throat and/or threaten them. YOUR investing a lot of $$ into dell? - Hmm, I bet you'd s**t your pants if they suddenly just stopped buying your stuff altogether. (It won't, but you would if it did)I wonder what would happen if companies were forced to un-bundle Windows from computers and just ship a blank computer with a CD.
