The problem always lies in the extremes idealism brings; no political system is sustainable in its pure form, yet idealists push constantly for their exclusive brand. A hybrid system is the obvious solution. We almost attained a successful one in the US, but now, with the US firmly in the control of private corporations, the opportunity has passed. Those corporations have, for some time, been successfully leading the world into the capitalist dystopia dictated by the WTO. People who resist are branded terrorists and exterminated.
@ajb2015 I've read Marx. I've read Chomsky. They're wrong. You're wrong. Period. Now I suggest YOU read some Adam Smith and George Orwell. You can throw some Whittaker Chambers and David Horowitz (both former outspoken members of the Communist Party) and how they found out from first-hand experience how *wrong* communism really is.
"Communism has done a load of good for some people in this world."The ONLY f**king good that communism did for 'some' people is the f**king tyrants that committed mass genocide on their own people. Yeah, there were 'some' people that communism was good for, and I can pretty much name each and every last one of them: Lenin, Stalin, Khrushchev, Brezhnev, Andropov, Chernenko, Gorbachev, Mao, Xiaoping, Tito, and Castro. Communism was actually VERY good to those 'some people'.Communists killed AT LEAST an EIGHTH of a BILLION people in 100 short years. I never stoop to personal attacks, but *this* time, I have to. You are a f**king idiot.
"the political right, and the right are terms used in the spectrum of Left-Right Politics, and much like the opposite appellation of Left-wing, it has a broad variety of definitions: the same name can, in politics, sometimes mean different things. However, it is generally used to refer to the segments of the political spectrum often associated with any of several strains of conservatism, monarchism, fascism[1], libertarianism, anarcho-capitalism, reactionism, the religious right, nationalism, militarism, or simply the opposite of left-wing politics.""In politics, the left-wing, the political left, and the left are terms used in the spectrum of Left-Right politics, defined as against the political right and associated, to varying degrees, with social (as opposed to classical) liberalism, social democracy, socialism, communism, anarchism and green politics."this is not rhetoric, its simply definition.
@h3nryWhat are you smoking? Fascism is not the opposite of communism. They're not the same, either. In fact, they're not related. One is an economic qualifier and the other is a social one. I suggest you read up on the political compass. Neo-liberalism is the opposite of collectivism and libertarianism is the opposite of authoritarianism.
you will notice that both of my posts were copied and pasted from wikipedia. i never contributed to any of those articles, and so the people who wrote the wikipedia articles must be the ones "smoking".as far as reading up on the subject, i have read Marx's communist manifesto, Plato's the republic, and Aristotle's politics all in the past 2 weeks, and if your willing to go back 3 months I have read Hitler's Mein Kampf, and Richard Rhodes Making of the Atomic Bomb, both of which deal with the rise of fascism in Nazi Germany. From what you tell me, wikipedia and the books I listed are no good as sources of information on the subjects of communism or fascism. if you have any suggestions on more well-rounded reading material I am always happy to hear it.
"Too bad most of the freedoms listed are disappearing thanks to Bush and Co." -airencracken 1. Yes, We are losing freedom. BUT:2. Its not cause of bush or co. Bush is a useless puppet or pretty much a messenger boy. One that is told something by the "Elites" and then the Messenger Boy runs and tells the masses. And the masses are pretty much stupid in this case and actually believes him. He is kind of like the Boy he called wolf but in this case. No one knows he's lying. And the Wolf is the big bad Terrorists. And their is no wolf. And of course you know what that means.3. The freedom are losing cause of the Elites as I said. A few Elites to name: Queen of England, Countless powerful banks, and pretty much anyone in power.

I have never understood this "communiusm works in theory" bit. Where in the theory does it work? In a very small group of volunteers?

If you don't even care to read Wikipedia on what Communism (and while there, Marxism, Leninism, and Stalinism) is please STFU.Any oppression government sucks. Fascist too. Now this time, before getting all pissed off, go look up the definition of this other word at least on a dictionary. Then come back if you feel I've been unfair. Here's a link:http://www.answers.com/main/ntquery?s=fascism&gwp=13
