Albumbase is a great site with tons of music. All rapidshare, megaupload and the like... Most of the music is in the alternative, hip-hop and rock/pop genres though, so you probably won't find the obscure jazz cd you're looking for.But for those other genres, they've got links to everything..

Or, to get the music you can use Firefox, block the ads with AdBlock and use Download Embedded to download any of the media from that site.<a class="user" href="https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=1993&application=firefox">https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=1993&application=firefox</a>Another site that has a lot of *free* music, and is an "open music catalog project (that) aims to create a free catalog over popular music to day. It is edited and developed by volunteers."<a class="user" href="http://www.itismusic.org/">http://www.itismusic.org/</a>

Still not as easy as just setting up a gmail account and giving out the u/p. Obviously you have more of a space limitation, but 2.5gb is good enough for most people's active playlist.Next!

When they release their new version it will supposidly be "impossible" to download the mp3s and you will only be able to listen to them. Interesting.

Go to Google. Now you have just viewed and copied their copyrighted page and logo to your hard drive. Is that against the law? No, because they explicitly put it on a public site with a public URL which says, please welcome yourself to download and view this material. Now, someone puts up an MP3 on their site with a direct URL and you browse to that URL and listen to the song. This is still perfectly legal. The only ambiguity in this case is that the authorized distributor made the links public through idiocy instead of intentionally, but since the URL is a simple public URL, there's no way, in my opinion, that you browsing to that URL could be construed as a crime.
