Its not just one person, that is one post filled with people who have that problem, and there are at least half a dozen other posts on that forum about this same problem.Still, i'd like to think most macbooks are fine, but random shutdowns are not cool
I hope that I dont run into this problem, I ordered a new 1.83 macbook today but I was suprised to see that the estimated shipping was 5-7 buisness days and not the 1-3 days that it was yesterday. Maybe i got lucky today and they are working on all of the issues that people are having I will not incounter. I can only cross my fingers
I don't see how people can say that just two people have this issue. Did anyone even look at that thread who commented. I've never seen a thread that long on that forum. I LOVE my MacBook. It's an incredible machine. But the fact is after two months of flawless use it shuts off ALL the time now. It's completely unacceptable. No one here is or who owns one is taking a shot at Apple. We just need our machines fixed so we can stay productive. If anyone has this or sympathizes with folks in this situation just digg the article. That's all. I've dugg plenty of articles like this for gear I don't have because these issues need to be addressed. The early adopters shouldn't also be beta testers (as they all are now days.)Anyway, this issue is real and it sucks. I've had data loss. It's an inconvenience and it's NOT made up. Just read through some of the thread.
My 2G white MB just started with two random shutdowns today. Never had any problems before this. The machine was compiling some stuff, so it may have been hotter than normal.system log shows error -72, not 82.I had to hold the powerbutton till the machine beeps- which locks the cpu at 1G I think.
Ok everyone, the random shutdowns just started happening to my Macbook yesterday after 2 months of perfect operation. (A note to all the doubters: If its not happening to you then great...but don't act like you know other peoples' problems. And to those who are actually having this problem, my suggestion is to just ignore those who doubt it...) It seems that if you turn the computer on by HOLDING DOWN THE POWER BUTTON FOR 5 SECONDS, it will start up and run without turning off. After holding the power button for about 5 seconds to start up, there will be a LOUD beep...once you hear this beep, let go of the power button and let it start. This is the only way I'm able to use my Macbook without it randomly shutting off. At first, it will only use 1 core...but after some time, the other core will turn on. It's very strange... Let me know if anyone else has the same experience.About bashing Apple...its a touchy issue for me. I love Apple, there's no other product like it and I think they're an amazing company. In fact, I own a lot of stock in the company and want to see them do well... However, that being said I think that they've taken a turn for the worse with their release of the Macbook and Macbook Pro. I've owned both, and both have had more problems than any other computer I've ever owned in 15 years of being a computer junkie. I don't know what to say about it, except it really sucks...
