theinquirer.net — Next thing he knew, fire extinguishers were going off and the place was filled with smoke as another Dell burst into flames. "The battery burned its way straight through the laptop creating the beautiful hole with which is so beautifully depicted in the picture," he says.

To bad that it appears to be an OEM license and is tied to his now exploded laptop. Though I am sure his warranty replacement laptop will include a new license :)

You might want to know that this is the third such incident happening to Dell. The Apple laptop involved was purchased at the right time to have been involved in a recall. At least Apple recalls them properly - when this had a possibility of happening to the PowerBook 5300, they recalled them all. The only incident reported was at an Apple engineer's house, and it only melted down, not burnt. Dell's let 3 slip through, and there is evidence they actually knew that the batch of batteries was defective, and decided not to recall them. Also, the laptop had been run for ~8 hours on carpet - sure-fire way to block all ventilation and heat the laptop up very hot. Also, it strikes me suspicious that they just happened to be filming it when it blew up. It also catches fire from the wrong side - the hard drive side, not the battery.Maybe it was real, but it strikes me as suspicious. If you're referring to other Apple problems, they do exist, but they're not this serious.

Bigger screen, better keyboard, better mouse. All simply left connected to the docking station for easy connect. Try working on a laptop all day, and you will miss your desktop.

@hwood -- "Lithium is very volatile."I'm not saying batteries don't catch fire or vent... Incineration is a different matter.

My Inspiron has been overheating recently, took out cpu, fan and heatsink and found a CARPET of dust on inside of heatsink. CPU has gone from 75C down to 30C! Yay! :-)
