blogs.laweekly.com — It took Ginger Burton an entire can of freeze spray, five bottles of hair dye and countless hours in front of a blow dryer to force her wig into the multi-colored spikes that help identify her as Yami Yugi from the anime franchise Yu-Gi-Oh! Like many at the Anime Los Angeles convention, cosplay has become more than a way to pay homage...

Or, you know, people like me who also like Code Geass, Gurren Lagann, and other great stuff like FLCL, Miyazaki's films, Ai Yori Aoshi, Ghost in the Shell, Evangelion, also go to anime conventions. I'm heading to Ohayocon the last weekend of this month (hey hey to anyone reading this who's also going).Cosplay is an extension of one's fandom. The idea is to dress up as a character you really like. It's one thing to say, "I love Link," but it's another thing entirely to show up dress as him.Conventions are just a place for fans of something to gather and enjoy the thing they're all fans of. It's crazy how after going to a con, even if I only go one day, I'm gorging myself on anime for the next several weeks, seemingly insatiable.Seriously, though, shut the f**k up.

I don't know I share a similar sentiment. I guess it's the same with most things that when they become overly popular they become less cool.

There are troubling amounts of negative people on Digg.Anyway, from what I've experienced at ACen and other cons, fan artists in artist alleys create some fascinating stuff. I consider it a sort of craft fair for fellow fanboys and fangirls. It's a nice alternative to the over-commercialism of dealers halls. Now as for cosplay, my rule is "how awesome is it?" If the outfit is unique, over-the-top good, or outrageously bad, then I enjoy it. But the same-old, same-old costumes based on Naruto/Bleach/DBZ/Final Fantasy 7+ are kinda forgettable.

FYI: Ai Yori Aoshi manga is 100% better than the anime. :3 You should definitely read it.

Goku had a race He was Saiya-Jin, It is the main plot of the damn series I mean come on every other fight talks about him being Super Saiya-jin I mean come on. Now what Ethnicity he was is different. Yet people in their quest to make Goku Caucasian many of you will just ignore the story comes from Journey to the west and the fact they speak Japanese and blah blah blah. But it doesn't really matter does it? All that matter is a Caucasian man is playing Goku in a very bad movie, and that is all that will be remembered.
