obleek.com — The animation runs at ten frames per second - one frame for each day - and a single black dot indicates the geographic location that a coalition military fatality occurred. Each dot starts as a white flash and a larger red dot which fades to black over the span of 30 frames/days, and then slowly fades to grey over the span of the entire war.

Thank you. I watched this with my girlfriend, flipping the U.S. tally in and out of the picture, and she asked me why noone is helping us fight. I had to tell her that the rest of the world thinks we're a bunch of dicks. Why are we really there? Who knows. I suspest it has something to do with the fact that our administration is in bed with both sides, and some old people are getting richer. And that's why I don't vote. I don't hate republicans or democrats, I just don't think for one second that anyone capable of recieving party backing is truly in it for the people. And for god sake people, watch it again, from the beginning, and leave the U.S. out of it to see who our friends are. Britian looks like they peeked their heads over the fence and said "sorry, old bean, you're on your own."/love the troops//hate the war

"All those deaths sound like a type writter. The maker of the flash should change the sound effect, maybe to the sound of explosions or gun shots or something. "Better yet, the sound of an old fashioned cash register ringing up another sale. And maybe a sidebar showing the total number of tax dollars spent on war contracts. I think the trillion or so in contract dollars explains this war quite well. Maybe some stats on how many dollars in contracts there are per American soldier death. The troops are being screwed- they were given an impossible mission ("Made ya look!" -George W. Bush). It's been an all-out raid on the treasury, the war's just the excuse- complain too much and we'll be in Iran next, and complaining won't be legal. If you loved America, remember the good times, and let's bring the nation back to life someday, huh?Anyone want to guess what Dick Cheney's salary will be when he returns as CEO of Halliburton in 2009?

@SyDigg: You have to understand that the majority of the people on Digg are young, pampered, white, middle class, and in college. They're children. The fact that 26 million Iraqi's are now liberated means nothing to people who have never known a life without liberty. The end of a generation of tyrannical rule has no impact on people that have no real concept of tyranny. The closure of rape rooms is a token to people who haven't ever been raped. The security in knowing that no more of your close relatives will be hauled off in the middle of the night, brutally tortued, then killed is something they can only relate to in pop fiction. In short, these people have no concept, and therefore no respect for the idea of America as a liberating force. Instead they are open only to being spoonfed the propaganda of wing-nut ivory tower intellectuals, MTV, fstv, and various so-called 'underground' publications. You have to look no further than how these kneejerk assimilants modded your simple and entirely appropriate remark, how how this clearly inappropriate article actually made the front page... on a tech site.
